Satellite/drone image analysis for high-resolution salt marsh mapping on SC Coasts

Summary: Salt marshes grow on relatively flat landscapes at elevations within the tidal range and therefore, are under threat from stressors such as sea level rise (SLR) and land use development. For accurate assessment of marsh sustainability and migration, their spatial distributions relative to elevation and land use are needed. Given the limitation of spatial resolutions in satellite remote sensing, this research explores the feasibility of drone technology in fine-scale marsh mapping across SC coasts.
